Giovanni Manghi

Giovanni Manghi:

Italian, I live in Portugal since 2002. Giovanni ManghiI'm experienced in trapping, handling and radiotracking small carnivores, in particular Stone Martens (Martes fuina), Weasels (Mustela nivalis), Genet (Genetta genetta) and Eurpoean Polecats (Mustela putorius).

I have also developed a huge amount of experience with the Tracking plates technique and with the Camera traps technique.

I'm actually involved within the UBC with a project that aims to study -for the first time in Portugal- the eco-ethology (and some aspects os the biology) of the European Polecat using live trapping and radio tracking techniques. This wouldn't be possibile without the help of several people, especially Prof. A. Mira , Vania Neves, Lorenzo Quaglietta, Patricia Ramalho, Mafalda Costa, Denise Pereira and Dr. Joana Reis, member and devoted doctor of the local veterinary hospital.

I have also organized ungulates surveys (Roe Deer and Wild Boar) and wolf (Canis lupus) surveys by use of the Snow-Tracking and wolf howling techniques.
